Many Democratic loyalists are blasting Elizabeth Edwards for keeping her husband's affair a secret for so long. "I think she's complicit," said one consultant. They're claiming she covered it up to further John Edwards' political ambitions, and in doing so, could have cost the party dearly had he gone further.

A Colorado inmate is suspected of sending a threatening letter with white powder to a John McCain campaign office near Denver. At least 19 people were hospitalized or quarantined until officials ruled the powder was innocuous. A threatening letter with no powder was also sent to a New Hampshire McCain office.

A man walked into the Arkansas Democratic Party's headquarters in Little Rock on Wednesday and shot the party chairman several times, police said. Chairman Bill Gwatney died at an area hospital. The suspect fled in a pickup truck but died after being shot during a 30-mile chase.
