One American and two Japanese scientists share the 2008 Nobel Prize for their work in subatomic physics.

Scientists say they've found the world's oldest-known footprints in what was once a shallow sea in Nevada. The tracks -- two parallel rows of small dots -- were apparently left by an aquatic creature in rock dated to 570 million years ago. "This was truly an accidental discovery," one researcher says.
