More Ice Breaks Loose in Canada's North

A chunk of ice the size of Manhattan has broken away from Canada's Ellesmere Island, scientists said Wednesday. They called it the latest example of how warmer temperatures are changing the Arctic. This July 27 photo shows more ice drifting off Ellesmere after separating from the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf.

A company in New York asks a handful of farmers to turn perfectly good land into patches of stinkweed, also known as field pennycress. Researchers hope that the plant's oil-rich seeds will turn out to be a good source of biofuel and ease price pressures on crops like soybeans and corn, which are used for both food and fuel.

At first the man thought it was a land mine. But after a closer look, archaeologists opened it and found a treasure inside.

New Unmanned Flight Record Claimed

An unmanned solar-powered airplane flew a world-record time of 83 hours and 37 minutes, the plane's manufacturer says. It's unlikely, however, that the record will become official because the company did not follow the necessary criteria.
