I think the biggest problem with this country now is corporate greed and executive (over)compensation. CEOs are regularly given outlandish stock options, while the company goes bankrupt and the little guy sweeping the floors has to work two or three jobs and go on welfare. My parents had a good life in the 1960s and 1970s, but neither had anything more than a high school diploma. I spent eight years in college and have two college degrees, but I can barely make ends meet now. I bought a bicycle to ride 6 miles to work every day, because I can't afford to put $50 of gas in my car every week. I won't blame the Republicans or the Democrats because I think they are all basically self-serving, greedy SOBs, too. I don't have an iPhone or any extravagant material things, or a big house. I'm just trying to survive until the elected officials quit pandering to the CEOs and pay attention to ME !!

This country is going down hill. Everyone knows it. I actually have to make a tough decision this week, buy my family groceries or pay the electric bill. We never had to make touch choices like that before. Now that gas is so high, we barely make ends meet. The kids are so depressed because we can't afford a vacation this year. It's sooo sad. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep.

He ticks off supporting statistics: A relatively low unemployment rate, 5.5 percent in June. (Employers did, indeed, cut payrolls last month by 62,000 jobs, but consider the 10.1 rate of June 1983 or the 7.8 rate of June 1992.) >>>>>>>>>>>>>This statistic is a joke. It is no longer relevant to the reality of the American work place the way it was in the 70's or the 80's. Every time I see this statistic trotted out to justify someone's perception that everything is just hunky dory I know that there is just one more idiot spouting off. This one statistic ignores the economic realities of 2/3 of the working public. Even by the admission of the BLS it does not cover everyone who is unemployed and wants to work, or the underemployed. It does not cover individuals laid off with severnce packages, it does not account for temporary workers or independent contractors. It does not take into account H1b workers when they are laid off or the people they replace. This is a flawed statistic and I su

The more the media tells us how bad things are the more we believe how bad they are, the more we believe things are bad the worse they become, it's a vicious cycle

People ought to do their homework before posting their media enhanced views. I am not pro or anti Bush - however, people complain about how wonderful their lives were and how rich they were just two years ago....and since they went on a spending frenzy and it's all catching up to them - suddenly its the Presidents fault. Guess what folks - look no farther than the Congress of these United States - since the Democrats took over (yes just two short years ago) all the troubles started. All I am saying, is learn the facts before you go on ranting. Gas in the Cayman Islands is over $7.00 a gallon US dollars...... it's worse other places...... is it your governments fault that you went a bought a gas guzzling automobile and a 1/2 million dollar home and not can't handle the responsibiities of them???????
