Liberals, leftists, socialist, progressives, hate the world around them and want to change it. The liberal hunger for change leads to a hunger for control over other people. And they will do and say anything to get that control: "Power at any price" Among well-informed people, Liberalism is a character defect. Liberals hate success in others -- which is why notably successful societies such as the USA are hated.

Greed is the reason of all the mess we're in right now... for example, old bush could've done something about the energy crisis... he could have provided incentives to companies willing to invest in alternative energy... all he did was fill the pockets of his friends off the back of the common man. That's why he looks so dejected all the time... he had a great opportunity to help our country; all he did was act in greed for the oil companies.

It's true that we need to find contentment in outselves/what we are blessed with and not whine about the negative things that come up. However, I don't have a lot of "things"!!!! (someone said we need to get over not being able to buy all the stuff we're used to). I haven't bought hardly any clothes in years! I've never been used to buying a lot of junk. Never had much. So it's no big changes for me. Barely get by.... as usual.

What a stupid article. The causes of the pessimism are clear and they are real, not imaginary: they are the natural outcome of 28 years of GOP policies. GOP stands for GREED OLIGARCHY PLUTOCRACY. Greed: insatiable desire for wealth. Oligarchy: Government by a privileged few. Plutocracy: Government by the rich. Ronald Reagan's "nice guy" act fooled a lot of people. But the results of 28 years of Reaganomics are in and they aren't pretty: worse economic inequality than at any time since the First World War, monopolies and cartels, stagnant or falling wages, political corruption, crony capitalism, 47 million Americans with no health insurance, millions of mortgage foreclosures. Give the Republicans another 20 years and they will establish a class hierarchy like Latin America's - 1% obscenely rich and living in fortresses, 9% comfortable but scared, 90% abjectly poor. You want that? Then vote for John McCain.
