This is a good idea, especially for women who are told that they'll be killed if they tell police about the rape. It almost happened to me, luckily I was able to kick him where it counts and managed to get away. He threatened to kill me if I ever mentioned it to anyone, and I, being 13 and very naiive, believed him. I didn't say a word for nearly three years, when he finally moved out of state and I felt safe enough to tell someone about it.

Wufking, if you've never been *****, you don't know how awful it is to have to report it. You just see it differently. It happened to me when I was thirteen, and the thought of ever even seeing my attacker in a lineup was enough to put me into a panic attack for years. At least this way more people will put in their evidence, so the potential for these bastards being caught will go up.

THATS A BUNCH OF B.S. THESE YOUNG WOMAN SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY CAN GET THE **** KIT DONE AND NOT HAVE TO REPORT IT RIGHT AWAY. IT IS NOT RIGHT TO WAIT UNTIL THEY MIGHT LEAVE THE HOSPITAL. THAT IS THE CHICKEN S*** WAY OF DOING IT. THESE GIRLS ARE TERRIFFIED, EMBARRESSED, THEY FEEL SHAME AND SCARED TO DEATH, THE LAST THING THEY WANT TO DO IS REPORT IT. JUST LET THEM KNOW THAT IT IS AN OPTION, FIRST THING NOT LAST THING. THAT MIGHT GIVE THE COPS A BETTER CHANCE OF CATCHING THE BA***** THAT HAS DONE THIS THING.

I understand what you're saying, wulfking, but at least anonymous collection of the evidence means he will be running amuck with the ax of potential prosecution hanging over his head instead of running amuck forever with a smug confidence that he'll get away with his **** because his victim is too afraid at first to go to the police. If even one rapist backs off because he's afraid he'll be nailed by DNA evidence somewhere downline, then this program is well worth the effort, and even the cost. I do think, though, that any rapist who is successfully prosecuted on the basis of this system should be assessed the cost of the kit, just to add insult in response to the injury he inflicted on his victim.

Oh brilliant idea! Let a rapist run amuck while the crime goes unreported and the evidence sealed away. That is a crime in itself, but then this is MESSachusettes.
