Could anyone PLEASE explain to me exactly how this kind of discovery actually HELPS anyone on this planet??? I've asked before, but no one seems to have an answer. Yeah it's cool and all, but couldn't the money it took to do this be better spent on HUMANS that already exist on THIS planet??!!!!!

The planets were found by cameras that record a very slight reduction of light from the star when the planet crosses in front of it. The pictures do NOT show the planets (the most powerful telescopes available still can't even display the NEAREST star as anything more than a point of light). Why would you want to see the pictures? All they'd show is white dots on a black background. Whoopee.

We at Nasa took pictures and tell the whole world that these pictures reveal 10 more planets, including the youngest planet yet.... Yea.... Um Can we see the pictures? That would be nice.

When I look up into the night sky, I'm simply amazed that all these stars are hundreds or even thousands of light years away....and.....MIGHT NOT EVEN BE THERE111
