I bought a Toyota Prius....i went from 17 MPG in my chevy to averaging 58 MPG in the Prius....I reduced my dependency on oil by 70%.
I am not saying everyone has to buy a Prius, but if everyone did something...anything...it will make a difference.

Leahy is a fraud and when is the last time he filled any gas tank? If we want lower gas prices the democrats and the tree huggers should let us drill here in America and build all the refineries we need. It is congress's fault that gas costs so much.

When people don't want to be charged they say it is not because of them. It is the customer's responsibility, it is the market responsibilty. But who is controlling the market and the way the demand is oriented. In this particular industry, it is very easy to understand.

Corporations DON"T PAY TAXES. You, the CONSUMER ultimately pays and pays for everything. And, Congress, holding their hands out for more TAXES. Why? Congress didn't drill for any oil. Congress doesn't refine any oil. Congress doesn't distribute the gas and; Congress doesn't sell the gas. So why should Congress collect more percentage wise on a gallon of gas than the oil companies make in profit on a gallon??? Highways aren't being built any better or faster than they were in the 70's thru 90's with the gas taxes. Congress, leave the oil companies alone and let them drill everywhere feasible. Let the Oil companies build some new refineries.

If you tax a company (any company) more, they will simply pass that tax on to the consumer. No company will eat that loss.
The Senate knows that. They're grandstanding. Higher taxes kill the consumer.

In the early 60s I recall a TV add by Prudential insurance company. They claimed that they were 5 times bigger than Humble (Exxon at that time) oil company. Exxon was in their heyday then and were the biggest which is no longer the case, BP overtook them some time back.
