We purchased a home in 2001 and sold it in 2007. We made $125K equity. Homeownership if done properly has its rewards.

"Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." Give these people the same interest rate that Senator Chris Dodd received from Countrywide's VIP program and let the chips fall where they may.

I just watched a program on TV where a young couple were buying their first home. They had a budget of $280K. Their bid included the seller paying their closing costs as they had not saved for it. They financed 100% interest only loan. Their payment is $1885/month (add taxes and insurance on that). How does a young couple make this kind of house payment? They usually don't and it ends up in foreclosure or some kind of govt bail out.

izsygrandpa 03:02:32 PM Jul 06 2008Report This! 'Owning' your own home is a farce. The home doesn't belong to you, it belongs either to the bank - until it's paid off (at 3 to 4 times the original cost) and then to the government (if you fail to pay your taxes - and that doesn't stop until your dead and 'your' estate is settled ... by paying the 'estate' tax). The whole system (capitalism) is bs. Oh, and if you 'belong' to a home-owners association and you piss them off - or fail to follow their orders, or fail to pay the dues - then 'your' home beolongs to them.-----------------------------------------------Quit whining, and rent an apartment. Do something useful. I have a relative who, with his wife, and daughter lived in the same second floor apartment for 46 years. He'd never whine, cry and complain as you're doing. If you're not satisfied with your situation/life, do something positive to change it. Dennis

Lets take our jobs BACK......The Cure....... America needs to invest in America. If I am low on cash and I am trying to get the most out of my money, I put it where it will do the most good. Some other things may suffer for a while, but priorities have to be set to secure the future. Our government should stop un-nessary spending on foreign relief, stimulus checks, homeowners relief, the excessive traveling, excessive campaign funding, and the list goes on. A 4 year plan could buy back some of the American industry that has been sold out to foreign countries. Yes the government buy the industries back. Our industry is what made America strong. Clearly not our investment knowledge. This would bring the jobs back to the states where they belong again. If you believe this can work, it will. If enough people believe it, it can happen. We have never been a nation to watch things happen, we MAKE things happen. Help me make this happen. Copy and paste to all message boards you go to. Don't le

Lets take our jobs BACK......... I have a cure for all of it. America needs to invest in America. The politicians say we don't have enough money for government spending. If I am low on cash and I am trying to get the most out of my money, I put it where it will do the most good. Some other things may suffer for a while, but priorities have to be set to secure the future. Our government can elect to stop un-nessary spending on things like the foreign relief, stimulus checks, the proposed homeowners relief, the excessive traveling of government officials, the Povert Act, presidential campaign funding, and the list is long. If they would do this for 4 years, they could take the funding that was saved and buy back the American jobs that have been sold out to other countries. Yes the government buy the industries back. Our industry is what made America strong. Clearly not our investment knowledge. This would bring the jobs back to the states and give people job opportunity again. If you bel

Sjpxmas- I don't know if government has ever been for the people- but by the people. An example would be lawyers- who were founded on the very merit for poor people who didn't have a voice. Is that the case now? For and By or very different words.
