When I got married I took my wife's last name. I liked her fathers middle name so I added it to mine too. Then her brother and I traded first names. But her cousin had a first name I liked better so I traded him. But before that, I had switched it to her grandfathers first name. Her dad made me mad so I dropped his middle name and added her great grandfathers first name to my middle name. I didn't sound so good so I switched my real first name for her grand fathers middle name. Her second cousin had a great first name so I added it to my middle name. By the time I got done I really didn't know who the hell I was. It turned out that I was my own grandpa.

Personally speaking, I like being traditional. Just because I took my husband's last name in no way means that I gave up my identity. A name doesn't define who I am, my actions as a human being do. However...if this is what the couple wanted, I say good for them. It's ridiculous that it costs more and is harder to obtain for the men and I'm glad that he called them on sex discrimination charges. More power to them, and I hope that they have a long and prosperous marriage. I think it was a very sweet gesture on his part, not many men would do this.

There should be nothing wrong with a woman keeping her name after marriage or the husband taking hers. Many times a female is the last member of a family surname. In honor of her father she should be able to continue the family name if she wishes.
