Lee Liberty, a geophysicist at Boise State University, said the quake was reported at a shallow depth. Considering the magnitude and other factors, Liberty said it's unlikely the jolt would cause any major damage.
"An event of this size in a remote area generally produces very little damage," Liberty said.
