This typifies Bush's simple-minded 'reasoning'. He. and others, can't conceive of communication without involving the military. For them it's kill or appease.

Obama is absolutely right. One must talk to anyone and everyone, the more often, the better. Mature minds understand this does not equal appeasement in any way, shape or form. It's the ONLY way to begin to improve situations.
James Baker tried to explain this to Bush. So have other sophisticated, experienced foreign relations experts. Forget it.

Thank God our foreign 'policy' will soon no longer be characterized by belligerence and nothing else.

Obama is right in criticizing Bush for the timing of his(Bush's)criticism, but I'd like to be sure that Obama doesn't negotiate with terrorists.
