Here's an idea, how about educating people better? I thought people were suppose to take their state history class in 4th grade. This is just another example of stooping to the level of the lowest common denominator.

being from pennsylvania i like the flag just the way it is, does adding the words really mean that much, i mean who cares whose flag it is. how much will the state end up spending on all this, rendell likes nothing better then spending our tax money on stupid stuff

Report This! spiritlady61, if you live in harrisburg, then you should know that it is PITTSBURGH with an "H" not pittsburg. You never see Fat Eddie in Harrisburg because he is always in filthydelphia doing his post game iggle show or attending Penn basketball or football games. Pittsburgh is a beautiful city where three rivers meet. It has much friendlier, cleaner, safer neighborhoods than philly and a million times better football team.

Do not change our history. It will be a diservice to the patriots of old who designed it. People who are really interested would learn to recognize it if they really wanted to know.

"Commonwealth" is just another word for "republic." In the case of the US, all the states that are called commonwealths are different only in their names. Puerto Rico and the Northern Marianas Islands are also commonwealths, but unlike the states; the name actually denotes a different status in their case. The CNMI is independent but still associated with the US. Puerto Rico is dependent but still possesses some self-government.
