I'm from Northern Virginia, where we do have significant snowfalls, and I lived in Bowling Green Ohio for two years while attending BGSU, and I can assure you that folks in the Midwest are no better driving in snow than anyone anywhere else. I have always been rather amused by the pile up of cars with Northern license plates during snowstorms along the I95 corridor in the South. Some people mistakenly believe that their geographical upbringing provides them an inate ability to drive in anything.

The point is, Virginia has far less snow than Ohio, and as such, the state does not have as many snow plows and salt and sand trucks. Fewer residents own or even know what snow tires or chains are, and because of these facts, it is a good idea to close down highways when the weather is less than favorable.

It doesn't matter where you are from, but how much common sense you use. And if she didn't feel comfortable driving in the snow, she showed one heck of a lot of common sense. But hey, if yo

Raised in Ohio, so I know snow! When I was in the Navy they had 1" (that is one inch!) of snow in Norfolk, VA. They shut down the whole state. Had to. No one there knew how to drive in it!

hey i was raised in new york state and i still don't like driving on snow and ice
i give her credit for being savvy and taking the smart way out .
