Prominent televangelist Juanita Bynum, seen here last month in New Orleans, was assaulted by her husband Thomas W. Weeks III on Wednesday in the parking lot of a hotel in Atlanta, Ga., according to police.

Bynum and her estranged husband, Thomas W. Weeks III, the founder of Global Destiny churches, met at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta's airport to try to reconcile, police said.

About 4 a.m., they fought in the parking lot until a hotel bellman pulled Weeks off, Officer Ronald Campbell said.

"She was bruised up and battered," Campbell said. "She had purple bruising around her neck and upper torso."

No charges had been filed by Wednesday night against Weeks, who left the scene accordign to police.

Bynum, a Pentecostal evangelist who lives in Hempstead, N.Y., has administrative offices in Waycross. The former homemaker, hairdresser and flight attendant got a break when Bishop T.D. Jakes invited her to speak at one of his conferences several years ago. Her ministry blossomed further after her "No More Sheets" sermon on breaking free of sexual promiscuity at a singles event.

She writes books, records inspirational CDs and preaches to millions through televised sermons.

She married Weeks in 2002 in a televised wedding.

Only other hypocrites accept this woman's antics; she is playing church, and it seems quite doubtful that God placed her in the ministry of prophetess. I saw her last evening and she is still the same disgrace she was before allowing herself to be made a public spectacle. And, the only prayer I offer to God is that He will have mercy on all the religious church hypocrites.

To the people who are being judgemental at this time. Your day is coming. I just wish that there is mercy in gods eyes. This is not the time for bickering but time for praying like never before. god bless

Also, I have seen this woman who calls herself a prophetess on TBN, she is disgraceful. Who cares about her life in the sheets, or anywhere else for that matter? Stick to the word of God, and there won't be time for these religious rantings. I do not have a very high tolerance for playactors, who never teach anything from the word of God, but a lot of crap they did when they were in the world. That crap will not help anybody stand against Satan's disguise as the first/false christ who comes to this earth, not many years hence.

Juanita Bynum is like so many other people who come from the streets to the church. I have people in my family who act, and I do mean act, just like she does, i.e., hypocrites. All they do is bring their gutter ways with them into what they call the house of God, when in truth it is the house of worthlessness. The Bible says that people like Bynum should not even be bid God's speed, let alone tithes.

I can't believe we as Christians are so down on Juanita for being a victim in this incident. She doing great things and helping many people i am sure. Aren't we called to take care of the men and women of God. I think Christians are too connected to their money. When you give to any ministry out of the true spirit of giving to the betterment of the Word of God being spread, Jesus sancitifies and blesses it. Let's treat her as our sister in Christ or your own sister. How would you respond to a beating from your blood sisters husband? May God continue to bless Sister Bynum and her husband who obviously has insecurites about the higher level God has taken her. God Bless all you readers...

We are all well aware that religious leaders are human too; however, I feel that too much emphasis is put on money, and not enough on teaching the word of God. Revelation makes mention of the churches, and the woman who calls herself a prophetess, but is Jezebel, leading the people of most of the churches of today astray. Jesus said He is going to move those churches from their places if they do not change their ways and learn the truth. Maybe this is a wake-up call that needs to be heeded.

Oh well just another day in the great race. Our country and the world is a very voilent place. We do the dirt we clean the mess and then it starts all over. Yes we are all sinners and we have all need of forgiveness but we who preach must be above reapporach.

And, don't think that Bynum won't get a book and movie deal from this ordeal. Somebody said it will be called, Beneath the Bruises. When she finally has the nerve to show her hypocritical face on tv again, you who view her will hear a bunch of tearful and regretful crap, and then they will pass the money barrels. Somehow money has restoration powers.

cottonkandi08110 10:47:00 PM Aug 28 2007

You people need to get a grip on all of this religious mumble jumble. The problem with the religious community is just that, they are religious, not spiritual. I watch these prophetess, priestess, bishops, pastors, and whatever other assortment of religious titles they call themselves, on tv sometimes, and they and their audiences are a sinful disgrace. Osteen has an audience of 500,000 people in attendance to his boring and never saying anything religious antics. These things are happening because it is about them, and not about YAHOVAH!!!
