If your a American you don't put up with customs or the police keeping you from entering YOUR country. AMERICA.
You take the law into your own hands and use what ever force needed to enter YOUR country.
Screw Washington with their laws.
Bin Laden had the right idea. Just to bad no one was home in Washington...
God help these fools trying to keep me out of my beloved country AMERICA.
Customs should of years ago have a back up computer system to switch to in case one goes down.
Any fool would know its just a matter of time before ALL systems will fail and they should of plan for it.

When one of the passengers from Ireland who had waited 6 hours commented, "This is like the third world"! ,That was the most accurate description of LA I've heard in about 2 days!

Once upon a time long, long ago, in a country that has long since stoped existing there was a way that people could be admitted into a country without any computers, etc., by golly they relied on intuiution and more. We talk about "freedom" and we are at "war" so they won't come here, but in the words of Pogo, "We have met the enemy and he is us." Think on it and do something about it too.

Fols, this is not an airline issue--this is a DHS, Customs and Border Protection issue where they didn't do their damn jobs, and couldn't process people into the country. This is not the first major screwup DHS has been involved in--remember the plane that couldn't land because of weather at Seattle and was diverted to an airport in the middle of nowhere, and then the crew went over their allotted hours so in addition to DHS not being able to process the people, Northwest had to wait for another crew.

the airlines obviously cant control the weather however what they can control is the way they react to the weather i was scheduled to fly from minnesota to nj in june the flight was cancelled however a flight from minnesota to ny was not cancelled at the same time same night same flight pattern what is happening is the airline had a cancelled flight from another area a not full flight going to nj a need for a plane going somewhere else that they could fill so they cancel the nj flight to make more money with no regard for the people who were going to nj what they need to do is have extra planes available to handle glitches in th system and we need a bill of rights

I once heard a ladie say, "This is un acceptable that we have to wait for another plane".....I guess she wanted to try to take-off on the plane that they took us off of because it had blown one of it's engines on start-up!! I for one like to have BOTH ENGINES truning when it's time to fly!!!!

In reguards to "sammy" saying that he will never fly USAIRWAYS again cause he got stuck in a DC airport, I geuss I see his point...It seems that the airlilnes "MAGIC WEATHER BUTTON" are never used.....I think that the airlines actually PLAN BAD WEATHER just to piss people off....Come on FOLKS.....Do you really want to take off into weather that has brought down flights before...Like Delta 191 that crashed in DFW because of windshier??

I say, if traveling on a commercial airline is so bad, I mean tickets are cheeper now then when they were in the 1960's....Then maybe try chartering a private jet. That is if you have the money!! It all depends on how much you like or hate being on a commercial jet..

Its a Shame that such and highly secured and critical computer application/software should go down for 10 hours, this calls for serious disaster management on those applications and the hardware.
