Look, there are many things we can think of to call Britney, especially after her tragic VMA performance. Stupid, idiotic, no-panty-wearing freak who doesn't know how to be a mother is just something that comes to mind. However, the girl is definitely not approaching maximum density in any way, shape or form. Maybe she shouldn't have worn that black lingerie outfit, but she's definitely not fat.
Give the girl a break, she's had two children. We can't call Nicole Richie too thin one minute and the next call Britney a tub of lard. It doesn't work that way.

Tanzin (12:23 PM 9/11/2007): she is not fat!!!!!!! hello she has two kids and i would kill to look like her after i have had two kids!!! these people have to stop cracking jokes on her , she looks normal atleast she's not bones like paris and nicole. when ur skinny people talk about u and when ur normal people talk about u so whats a girl to do??????
Dawn (12:54 PM 9/11/2007): Ummm....fat? are you guys serious? I never usually comment on this stuff, but come on, that is not fat at all. To me, she looks 100% better then most people walking the street. Not to mention, being at the beach this year I noticed a ton of women who did not have the body to be wearing bikinis yet were. And trust me when I say Brit looks good. I feel sorry for her at this point- even if she rocked it 110% you'd still be pickin on her for something.
American Pride (1:07 PM 9/11/2007): Even though her preformance was really lacking, her body looks great. She needs help mentally, but leave her body alone. I know a ton of women who would kill for a body like that.
KMF (1:18 PM 9/11/2007): I'm no fan of Britney's and I thought her performance was terrible, but I agree, she's not fat. Sure she would have looked better covered up. Her wardrobe choice was unfortunate. I've heard she turned down the corset outfit Mtv wanted because it wasn't sexy enough. That was a mistake, corsets are really sexy (why else would they be a staple of the lingerie shops if they weren't?) and it would have given her figure the little kapowzah she wanted but didn't get in that two piece.
She doesn't hold up to her former body which we all knew she wouldn't anyway. She had the kids and can't give up the calorie loaded Starbucks and alcoholic drinks(loaded with calories too!) to get back to into pre-kid shape. It can be done but takes time and dedication. She certainly by no stretch of the imagination is fat.
If THAT is fat, let me be that fat!
Tina (1:37 PM 9/11/2007): I agree! I actually like the curvier Britney. It was the performance that was the problem--not the pudge.
Chas B (1:41 PM 9/11/2007): Just looking at the video and the stills, she looks fat to me. Maybe she can release her body mass index statistics and put the matter to rest. Most Americans are fat, especially young mothers of two. She's also not teen anymore. So she has excuses, but that doesn't make her less fat or out of shape. I'm fat, too, but I'm not wearing elastic that makes me bulge above and below, and my job doesn't depend on having a firm body.
Kirsys (1:58 PM 9/11/2007): Talent aside, for a whole country to expect a 25 year old to look 16 after 2 little babies, divorce, etc. is beyond ridiculous. As of now, she looks much better than many other female celebrities. This barage of criticism just underlines why young people have so many eating disorders, plastic surgery addictions, self-esteem problems, even while in their teens or early 20s. I think we should be ashamed of ourselves for giving kids such a bad example and I hope that, like Tyra, Britney stands up for herself and speaks out.
mkaya80 (2:05 PM 9/11/2007): I don't keep up on the Britney Spears saga, but I think the media is crazy for saying she's fat! Give her a break for pete's sake. She is not fat. You guys are always talking about how thin Hollywood is and then poke fun of Britney. Take a look at yourselves.
Kath (2:19 PM 9/11/2007): Chas B if you think britney is fat you must be in childrens wear!!! Britney is by far not fat you need to adjust your glasses and stop succumbing to todays fat/skinny standard. After two kids most people would die for a body like brit; i would I'm a size 16M callme fat but not britney! Her song wasn't horrible either she is nervous and stiff but I 'd rather like to her new song than umbrella by rhiana anyday!!!
Kath (2:21 PM 9/11/2007): In addition my body mass index is 30.23% what's yours cuz britneys has got to be in the 10% or under!
Amelia (2:27 PM 9/11/2007): Thank you, The Cooler! Seems like everyone out there is talking about how 'fat' Britney Spears was and frankly it is pissing me off! Like you said there is SO much to say about the trainwreck, but fat shouldn't be one of them. This is what happens to teenage and tween girls everywhere "if britney is fat what am i?". This whole thing just blows my MIND! I do think she should have worn something other than panties and a bra, becuase it was not that flattering, but give a girl a break!
Kristina (2:31 PM 9/11/2007): Yes, correct .. Britney Spears is not fat. Be more specific .. Britney Spears does not have the body to prance around in that outfit on a public stage without opening herself and her body up to ridicule. What Britney Spears has is no judgment whatsoever.
tipovergrl (2:38 PM 9/11/2007): Im so O-V-E-R her misuc, voice, hair loss, emotioal tragedy, kid endangering, party-holic idiot....
Yes, she is FAT. She is in an industry that has standards the rest of the world does not necessarily live up to. I dont get paid to look hot in a two piece (but I do)..she does. She doesn't sing nor contribute anything to the world well enough to get fat.
Terri (2:38 PM 9/11/2007): I AM OUTRAGED, OUTRAGED AT THE MEDIA FOR SAYING SHE IS FAT! BRITNEY IS NOT BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGAINION FAT. I PRAY THERE IS A PUBLIC OUTCRY OVER THIS. HOW DARE...HOW DARE THE MEDIA EVEN SPECULATE ABOUT HER WEIGHT. HOW DARE IT EVEN BECOME AN ISSUE!
IF THIS WAS A MAN WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE WEIGHT THING WOULDNT HAVE EVEN COME UP. MEN WOULD BE IN THE FETAL POSTION IF THEY HAD TO DEAL WITH THE PRESSURE THAT WOMEN ARE UNDER. ALL I SEE ARE FAT @SSED MEN WITH SPARE TIRES WALKING AROUND, STUFFING THIER FACES AND JUDGING WOMEN. I FOR ONE WILL NOT TOLERATE IT.
lbccurrey (2:48 PM 9/11/2007): If you got it flaunt it ! Problem is, Britney doesn't have it anymore and therefore should not be flaunting it. She isn't necessarily fat, but she has "outgrown" her ability to wear lingerie on national TV without being critized and justly so!
jessica (2:49 PM 9/11/2007): Well i have to say that her performance was actually HORRIBLE...but,it is just downright ridiculous to call britney fat. She looks NORMAL! Not starved to death! She could probably tone it up a little more to look better, but to call her fat is to pretty much call EVERY NORMAL-SIZE GIRL IN AMERICA fat also which is far from the truth. Her body is average...get over yourselves.
buddy (2:50 PM 9/11/2007): I would be shocked if 80% of the female population when asked could I have my body or Britney - they would say hers... to even hint that the woman is fat is warped. Surely her costume choice was totally unflattering and it goes without saying her lack luster performance was dismal but to comment on her weight is ridiculous
Julie (3:09 PM 9/11/2007): I am not a brittany fan,but i do not think she is fat. she did make a poor wardrobe choice and it was unflattering to say the least, but she is not fat. I agree that the performance was very lackluster and amateurish. I read she partied rather than practiced. that's a shame, as if she really wanted her career back, she could get it but it's not going to be handed to her. i hope she stops the self-destructive behavior soon.
Christy (3:23 PM 9/11/2007): She could actually look good in a pair of jeans and a cute top. But please be serious. She's trying to go out there and look sexy with her muffin top pouring out of her ugly skimpy lingerie. That's not sexy. Not to mention, her weight is due more to her notoriously unhealthy eating habits than to her kids. That's not sexy either. Wash your hair and take some pride in yourself.
Kay O (3:47 PM 9/11/2007): My mouth dropped yesterday when I read in countless articles (I was bored) that Britney Spears was now considered "fat." I cannot believe the media, or anyone for that matter, could honestly think they have the right to comment on her weight by calling her pudgy.
Way to go, media, for calling the woman fat. I'm sure young, impressionable girls who saw the articles will take this to heart and worry even more about their weight. Great job. Let the people be--you are never satisfied. Either someone is DANGEROUSLY UNDERWEIGHT or DISGUSTINGLY OBESE. Get over it! It's absolutely dispicable, the way you poke fun at their weights like middle schoolers would do.
