A workman digging at the ruins of the ancient city of Aigai in northern Greece was startled when he found this copper vessel, officials at the University of Thessaloniki said Friday. At first the man thought it was a land mine. But after a closer look, archaeologists opened it and found a treasure inside.

New York Church Hits the Jackpot

A New York pastor says one of his congregants donated a winning lottery ticket worth $3 million to his church. The pastor said the donor, who asked to remain anonymous, donated the ticket immediately after realizing he won. The church will get a little over $100,000 a year through 2028. The amount could be higher if withheld taxes are refunded because of the church's nonprofit status.
