Woman with Child Drives Into Aquarium

A woman with a boy on her lap drives into the aquarium at the Tampa International Airport. The 36-year-old and 6-year-old were unharmed in the incident, which began when the woman lost control of her truck. However, most of the saltwater fish were not so lucky.

The toast of the auction circuit this week is a bottle of beer recovered from the famous Hindenburg crash in New Jersey more than 70 years ago. The modest drink, which still bears a Lowenbrau label, is expected to become the most expensive beer ever sold, the auction house says.

The Large Hadron Collider is shorted out when a bird drops part of a baguette into its external machinery. The $10 billion atom smasher has already been beset by various technical glitches, but the baguette-toting bird took the LHC staff by surprise. Luckily the massive gizmo was powered down at the time of the incident, and suffered no major damage.

The world's tallest living man has unveiled the world's largest gingerbread man at an Ikea outlet in Norway's capital, Oslo. Guinness Book of World Records spokeswoman Justine Bourdariat says 8-foot-1-inch tall Sultan Koesen of Turkey displayed the 1,435-pound (651-kilogram) biscuit. Baked locally in the traditional gingerbread-man shape, it beat the previous gingerbread cookie record of 1,307 pounds set in 2006 in Smithville, Texas. Read More

A young Cincinnati Bengals fan has been penalized for clipping. Dustin Reader got the NFL team's stripes and "B" insignia cut into his hair as a tribute to the team's good season. When he showed up to school in the southwest Ohio city of Hamilton on Monday, officials put the eighth-grader into in-school suspension. The school said its code of conduct prohibits extreme and distracting hairstyles. Read More

A bird was blamed for distracting the driver of a luxury sports car who then drove his Bugatti Veyron into the drink. La Marque police said the French-built supercar ended up in a lagoon, coming to rest in about 2 feet of saltwater. When Ricky Butler went to sleep on a rural, East Tennessee roadside, he didn't have to worry about comfort but apparently he was feeling insecure. McMinn County deputies found the 31-year-old Decatur man sleeping on his back in a roadside ditch, with a loaded rifle on his chest and an almost empty jar of moonshine in the bib of his overalls. A Pasco County man was bitten by an alligator that had parked itself under his car. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said 38-year-old Joseph Cannistra saw something lying under his car early Sunday morning. Thinking it was his dog, Cannistra reached underneath and was bitten on his hands by an alligator. Read More

It was just a routine car wash. Except there was no car _ and no clothing. Four Australian men who allegedly undressed and soaped up at a car wash have been charged with exposure and public nuisance. Police said the men paid for a wash before stripping nude and cleaning themselves in the soapy water while their female companions took photos. Read More

Police said a woman threatened her husband with a 7-inch knife after he threw away her bottle of vodka as she slept in their suburban Detroit home. Clawson police Lt. Scott Sarvello told The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak the man returned home from work Sunday night to find his wife sleeping with a bottle of vodka. He threw away the bottle. Read More

Prosecutors have decided to drop charges against two men who got into a raucous fist fight at a St. Petersburg City Council meeting. Frederick Dudley and Ronald Deaton were arrested in October after they began throwing punches during an argument over a decision to privatize a public sidewalk. The men, ages 76 and 61, respectively, were charged with disorderly conduct. Read More
