A Brazilian college backs down on its plan to expel a female student for wearing a short dress to class. Although Bandeirante University earlier accused Geisy Arruda, 20, of flouting "ethical principles, academic morality, and dignity," the school has now invited her to return. Some of the students who heckled Arruda may also be temporarily suspended.

3 Arrested in Fireworks Arson Murder

Three teenagers are arrested in connection with a deadly house fire in southwestern England that started when a lit firecracker was thrust through a letter slot. British media report that Mary Fox, 59, perished in the blaze after helping her son to safety. A neighbor says the suspects were laughing and jeering as they watched the house burn.

AIDS Is Leading Cause of Death in Women

A new study by the World Health Organization finds that the AIDS virus is the leading cause of death and disease among women between the ages of 15 and 44. And unsafe sex is the leading risk factor in developing countries for these women of childbearing ages, the study says.

A funeral is held in England for a British nurse who died in Saudi Arabia 30 years ago. Saudi officials concluded Helen Smith, 23, died after she accidentally fell from a balcony in 1979. Her father, Ron Smith, believes she was murdered. He said he finally allowed the body to be cremated because he has given up hope that a new investigation will be opened.
